Following a full day of visiting the temple, you will be attending a performance of ‘Phare, the “Cambodian Circus”. The performance, which begins at 7pm, includes professional artists of Phare Ponleu Selpak (PPS) who will perform an inspiring show suitable for all ages. The circus, which was established in Battambang in 1994, was created by young Cambodians who were returning from the refugee camps and who learned about using art as a means of coping with trauma. PPS has played an influential role in promoting and developing Khmer culture in the years since the Khmer Rouge genocide. The hour long performance includes traditional and modern theater, music, acrobatics, dance, juggling and contortionists who perform in a story about Cambodian lives and society. There are student performances which can still be seen twice weekly in Battambang, however the circus has arrived and now performs in Siem Reap. Following the performance, you will enjoy your dinner at a local Khmer restaurant located in SiemReap’s Old Market area.
