Destinations: Luang Prabang – Ock Pop Tok – Silkworms and Natural dyes
Your morning today is at your leisure. You may simply relax and enjoy a quiet and peaceful morning, or you may wish to explore some more of Luang Prabang on your own and at your own pace. This afternoon, you will go to the Ock Pop Tok weaving centre for a unique Silkworm and Natural Dye Class. You will learn about silkworms, where they come from and how silk is made in Laos. You will also be invited to prepare mulberry leaves and to feed the worms. Following a brief introduction about natural dyes, you will dye scarves in the colors that you choose. Later in the afternoon, you may meet some of the weavers and be introduced to the weaving technique. You will also have the opportunity to try to weave and spin. The day concludes with cocktails and canapés being served while overlooking the beautiful sunset over the Mekong River.
